Avnet Cares to support rookie robotics team

01/22/2026

Avnet Cares recently announced a partnership with the Mesa High School robotics teams. The “RoboRabbits” will be sponsored by Avnet for their rookie season for the AZ FIRST Robotics competition. The regional competition will take place in March of 2026.

Avnet is a long-standing supporter of AZ FIRST Robotics, but this is the first year in support of a specific team. Avnet was looking for a team that needed an extra boost in funding to help them be prepared to compete.

Mesa High School is a Title 1 school with nearly 15 students who have joined their robotics club. The funding from Avnet is being used to purchase parts that are needed for their robot – including swerve drive modules, motors and other mechanical components.

Avnet volunteers will be working with the team throughout the competition season to help prepare them. Sessions with Avnet volunteers are scheduled to include: social media, business plan development and java coding.

Evan Tsoukalas, Sr. Director for Avnet Operations, is actively involved with the RoboRabbits. Evan shared, “We are excited to work with this team of dynamic, motivated kids, and their dedicated coaching team. FIRST robotics is an excellent program to inspire our future STEM innovators and help them build critical skills that will be valuable in both their careers and their lives.”
