First year partnership with D-backs outscores expectations

Avnet congratulates the Diamondbacks on their tremendous success. While sports fans got to experience an exciting playoff and World Series run – students, teachers and the community got to experience a real impact.

“Avnet sends a heart-felt congratulations to the Diamondbacks on their outstanding performance both on and off the field,” said Avnet CEO Phil Gallagher. “The first year of our partnership made a real difference in our community and we’re excited for the great things to come.”

Avnet is proud to be a community partner with the D-backs via our sponsorship. A few of the programs Avnet supported this year include:

Sleeve patch – The D-backs were the third Major League Baseball team to secure a jersey patch partner since the program began. This partner was Avnet.

50/50 raffle – The raffle was sponsored by Avnet Cares and this season the donation total set a new record thanks to D-backs fans. The raffle supports D-backs Charities which funds youth sports, education and program grants that support homelessness, indigent healthcare and youth programs of all types.

STEM Scholars – Avnet and the D-backs awarded $250,000 total in STEM scholarships to 14 St. Vincent de Paul scholars along with a computer, headphones, backpack, a gift card for school supplies and a custom jersey. The donation is part of a more than $1 million commitment over four years to    scholars who are first-generation college students or overcoming barriers to college entry. Read your way to the ballpark – Avnet is also a sponsor of this program with the D-backs. It encourages reading and literacy among students in grades K-6. Students earn prizes through reading goals culminating with a ticket voucher to a D-backs game as the final prize. Three hundred teachers are able to sign up for the program for free.

The collaboration brought together two Arizona-based organizations that share a commitment to creating a best-in-class experience for customers, partners, fans, and their employees as well as an equal dedication to the communities we serve.
