Avnet,
Inc. (NYSE: AVT),
a leading global technology distributor, today announced a distribution
agreement with Arnouse Digital Devices Corp. (ADDC), a N.Y.-based
manufacturer of high-performance, small form-factor x86 pluggable
computers, servers and high security devices. Avnet will now offer
Americas' customers in markets including military, healthcare, security
and cloud computing, a standard x86 pluggable computer platform that can
help accelerate the design of mobile devices, wearables and a range of
IoT-enabled systems.
Founded in 2002, ADDC’s flagship product is its BioDigitalPC®,
a credit card-sized, pluggable computing card designed to give users an
interchangeable compute platform with unprecedented levels of
flexibility, compute capacity, miniaturization, power conservation and
ultra-high security. The BioDigitalPC weighs less than two ounces, has
the equivalent compute power of a traditional server and is both
waterproof and shockproof. ADDC also recently introduced its patented
Mobyl Data Center (MDC22), a suitcase-sized mobile data center that
holds twenty-two x86 servers housed in a rugged case no bigger than an
average carry-on suitcase.
“ADDC’s vision to solve the technology industry’s challenges around form
factor, power consumption and even waste removal and infrastructure
value with our hot swappable, rugged, credit card-sized x86 BiodigitalPC
compute platform has been widely embraced in the defense, security and
intelligence verticals,” said Michael Arnouse, CEO of ADDC. “With
Avnet’s extensive supply chain experience and expertise in embedded and
integrated technologies, we will be better positioned to expand our
reach to new customers in additional markets, including enterprise and
commercial.”
“The technology industry is continually challenged to do more with less,
creating devices that are ever-smaller, more portable and energy
efficient, yet capable of withstanding a range of environmental
factors,” said Jeff Ittel, senior vice president, Avnet’s embedded
organization. “Until ADDC came along, the majority of the progress in
this miniaturization trend was made within ARM-based architectures.
ADDC's BioDigitalPC provides a powerful x86 computer the size of a
credit card, so our customers can create nearly any system they desire
while not having to worry about developing miniaturized computer
components to support their designs.”
