Avnet Applied Computing Leverages Technical and Global Logistics Expertise to Design, Test, Integrate and Install Oracle Collaboration Suite Worldwide

Avnet Applied Computing, a member of the Oracle(R) Partner Network, today announced it has teamed with Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) to integrate and implement hardware solutions for Oracle Collaboration Suite. Based on Avnet's expertise in telephony implementations, Oracle Collaboration Suite customers will benefit from smooth, rapid deployments of the unified messaging platform for data and voice systems.

"Oracle Collaboration Suite is going to be a real hit in the marketplace for a few reasons," said Ed Kamins, president of Avnet Applied Computing. "The ability to scale the system to meet the needs of any enterprise; the tremendously low total cost of ownership it delivers; its reliance on open standards backed by Oracle's global support, and most importantly, the way it empowers the employee from a communications standpoint. This is going to be one of those products that the customer's employees won't be able to live without once they experience it for themselves."

Avnet Applied Computing (AAC), is a $1.6 billion operating group of Avnet Inc. (NYSE:AVT), dedicated to getting original equipment manufacturers, independent software vendors and system builders to market faster, better and for less cost than their competition. As a global integrator for Oracle Collaboration Suite, Oracle customers will reap the benefits of Avnet Applied Computing's:

-- Experience in computer telephony applications and integrations

-- World-class partnerships with top-tier CTI suppliers like Intel and Dialogic

-- Global logistics expertise and support network

Avnet Applied Computing will deliver a custom-built hardware platform for the Oracle Collaboration Suite, built using Intel's standards-based communications building blocks, and based on the customer's specific network environment. All platform integrations will take place in the Avnet Integration Solution Center, a 22,000 square foot integration facility that upholds both 5-Sigma and ISO 9001:2000 standard for quality. Once complete, the platform will then be shipped and integrated on site at the customer's data center to ensure a seamless transition with existing systems.

"Developing and integrating a highly available, highly scalable hardware platform that can grow as our customers grow is essential for a unified messaging application like Oracle Collaboration Suite," said Steve Levine, vice president, Oracle Collaboration Suite marketing. "As the experts in telephony implementations, Avnet Applied Computing brings a wealth of knowledge that our customer can leverage to ensure the deployment of Oracle Collaboration Suite is both smooth and successful."

"Having the opportunity to work on a project of this nature with a partner like Oracle is a huge win for AAC, and really for all parties involved," said Troy Blanchette, senior vice president of Avnet Applied Computing's services division, Avnet FasTrac Services. "Oracle delivers the superior software and sales support, AAC contributes world-class technical, logistics and support expertise, and the customer receives the best possible complete solution for its messaging needs, which is the ultimate goal in the first place. Avnet Applied Computing is pleased to be a part of such a promising relationship."
