"By 2022, Korea can expect to see 30 million active IoT subscriptions[1], which is triple the number of connected devices in 2017"

Global technology solutions company Avnet Asia Pacific will showcase the future of smart Internet of Things (IoT) solutions at the Korea Electronics Show (KES) 2018 in Seoul. From October 24-27, Avnet’s booth at KES 2018 will display Avnet’s six smart technology zones plus Microsoft Azure Sphere, a new solution that helps connect and secure IoT devices.

To satisfy the growing market demand for IoT products and services, Avnet empowers partners through its connected ecosystem and smart IoT solutions to help customers of all sizes and across many industries reduce the technical complexity of their solutions, speed time to market and lower costs in order to bring their products to market faster.

“By 2022, Korea can expect to see 30 million active IoT subscriptions[1], which is triple the number of connected devices in 2017,” commented YC Kim, managing director of Avnet Korea. “We can also expect at least 240 new technologies to emerge from now through 2030[2]. Avnet is committed to supporting these growing trends by providing innovative smart solutions to the fast-growing Korean market through our unique ecosystem and end-to-end suite of IoT services.”

The Asia Pacific region is home to one of the fastest growing healthcare markets in the world[3]. The market is driven by the adoption of smart care technologies that reshape how healthcare manufacturers, vendors, and providers work towards accessible and convenient patient-centric treatment and solutions. Similarly, the market for smart home products and services is slated to reach US$115 billion by 2030[4] in Asia alone. The rapid development and a heightened demand for IoT products and services herald smart solutions as the key to many mainstream industries of the future.

Avnet’s display, located at Coex Hall A, Booth C262, will showcase the first-ever demonstration of Microsoft Azure Sphere in Asia Pacific. Azure Sphere is a groundbreaking new solution developed for creating highly-secured, internet-connected IoT devices that are powered by microcontroller units (MCUs). Avnet is Microsoft’s lead partner for Azure Sphere and the first to distribute the product.

Avnet’s booth hosts six other smart technology zones, presenting solutions for the Smart Care, IoT, Smart City and Factory, Smart Home, Smart Monitoring, and Smart Surveillance sectors. Together with its partners, Avnet will demonstrate the latest IoT solutions:

  • NXP Semiconductors – SmartThings that works with voice assistant
  • Advantech – Intelligence server system integrating hardware and software for industrial and factory automation using IIoT
  • Infineon Technologies – Highly secure smart lighting system
  • Nordic Semiconductor – Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh that extends wireless networking
  • TE Connectivity – Temperature and humidity monitoring empowered by LoRa
  • Xilinx – smart cameras offering real time feed for surveillance in traffic monitoring, face and people detection

The 49th KES 2018 is expected to see more than 60,000 visitors and buyers across four days, with this year’s focus on IT Convergence, Mobile & Communication, Electronics Parts & Materials, Software & Computing, Start-up & R&D, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality.
