Avnet strengthens commitment to Tempe schools

08/27/2026

As Avnet recently relocated its corporate headquarters to Tempe, the company is deepening its commitment to the community through investments that support local students and schools. During a recent gathering of more than 100 global leaders in Tempe, Avnet employees assembled 10 electric guitars that will help inspire creativity, learning and self-expression through music education. The guitars were formally presented by Mike Walker, Avnet Vice President and General Counsel, Americas, to the Tempe Union High School District Governing Board and district music educators during a recent governing board meeting.

The project was inspired by a moving performance from two student musicians and the reflections shared by one of the district's music educators. Their stories and talent left a lasting impression on attendees, reinforcing the important role that arts education plays in helping young people develop confidence, creativity and connection. Along with the guitar donation, Avnet contributed $3,500 through its employee volunteer matching program to support district music programs through the Tempe Schools Foundation.

"As we establish our new headquarters in Tempe, we are excited to build meaningful partnerships that create opportunities for students and strengthen our community," said Walker. "Supporting local education is one way we can help young people learn and grow while investing in the future of the city we are proud to call home."

Superintendent Dr. Stacia Wilson recognized the Avnet team and thanked them for their blossoming partnership, “Although Avnet is new to our Tempe community, they are already making a huge impact.”

This donation reflects Avnet's ongoing commitment to supporting educational opportunities and partnering with local organizations to make a lasting impact in the communities where employees live and work.
