Avnet Cares awarded five community grants last month – including programs that provide STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) to youth across the country.
Avnet reviews grants on a quarterly basis and focuses on the areas of STEM, Environment and Communities in Crisis.
After School All Stars is a free program in 18 sites across the country. Avnet is supporting their STEM programming that includes hands-on learning in coding, robotics, circuitry, makerspace/engineering, career technical education, and more. The program impacts 10,000 kids each year.
Another youth program that is expanding STEM to kids is ICAN: Positive Programs for Youth in Chandler, of which Avnet is a long-standing supporter. Their STEM programs include interactive lessons, along with robotics and digital technology – impacting 700 kids each year in Chandler and Mesa, AZ.
Avnet is supporting the Arizona Interscholastic Association for the third year in a row, with a sponsorship of their high school robotics championship that will take place in the spring, with 600 students participating in the VEX competition.
Support for the Phoenix Art Museum is directed to their Charles Gaines exhibit, Numbers and Trees, a series that showcases the desert environment, along with numerical structures, from the preeminent figure in conceptual art. The exhibit will be on display at the museum through March 9, 2025.
The final grant for the fall cycle was awarded to AZCEND in Chandler, AZ, in support of their food bank that impacts 10,000 individuals each year.
