Avnet’s Latest Community Grants Impact Youth Across the U.S.

09/13/2023

Avnet Cares recently announced its first round of community grant awardees for fiscal year 2024. The Avnet Cares program awarded six grants which include programs that impact youth across the U.S.

Avnet focuses on four areas of giving and employee volunteerism: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion), Communities in Crisis, and the Environment.

After-School All-Stars is a free after-school program serving youth in 22 locations across the country. The program reaches youth from under-resourced communities and last year served more than 100,000 youth. Funding will support weekly STEM curricula including robotics, circuitry and digital media.

Other community grants awarded include:

Arizona Education Foundation: Funding will continue the expansion of teachSTEM, a groundbreaking program designed to address Arizona's critical STEM teacher shortage by motivating junior high and high school students to pursue teaching degrees in STEM.

Homeward Bound: Support for their “IDEA” initiative impacting the organization’s culture, policies, and data for their transitional housing program.

Chicago Academy of Sciences/Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum: Grant funds will support their “Science on the Go” mobile education program that brings STEM to 7,000 youth each year.

TechGirlz: Their program inspires middle school girls to explore the possibilities of technology to empower their future careers through the creation of free, fun, interactive “TechShopz” led by industry professionals, community leaders, and students.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science: Grant funds will support the Community Partners program of the science museum located in Dallas, TX. The program provides free museum memberships to those who qualify.
