Lynn Torrel Honored with 2019 Outstanding Women in Business Award

Wednesday, April 10, 2019 10:28 am MST

The Phoenix Business Journal recently honored 25 outstanding women in business, and among them was Lynn Torrel, President of Avnet United and Velocity. A sold out ballroom of some 500 attendees – including two tables sponsored by Avnet – came out last week in full force to support the honorees.

It was no small feat to be recognized among such high-caliber women in business, academia and non-profit organizations from around the state. Lynn’s long and fruitful career in the electronics industry has prepared her well for her current role as leader of Avnet United, the global business arm of Avnet, as well as Velocity, Avnet’s vehicle for non-traditional supply chain solutions.

Lynn not only stands out for her integral role at Avnet, but also for her other endeavors, like community outreach, that keep her busy outside the office. In an interview with The Phoenix Business Journal, she speaks about serving as chair-elect for the Electronic Components Industry Association; sitting on the board of Cortney’s Place, a program for adults with special needs; and mentoring three MBA students in ASU’s Executive Connections program.

Read the rest of Lynn’s chat with The Phoenix Business Journal for her thoughts about women in business, leadership styles, time management and more.
