Avnet and Intel celebrate 50 years

Thursday, October 3, 2019 8:21 am MST

This month, Avnet and Intel are celebrating 50 years of working together to bring innovative technology to market. In honor of the milestone, Intel senior leaders will be travelling to visit Avnet facilities—specifically the Global Integration Center and the Corporate Headquarters—for site tours, business updates and celebrations.

The two companies first began collaborating in 1969, when Tony Hamilton, then CEO of Hamilton Electro Sales (acquired by Avnet in 1962), and Intel co-founders Gordon Moore and Bob Noyce, signed Intel’s first-ever product order. The rest, as they say, is history.

From there, both companies would continue to evolve with the rapid changes in technology and in the components industry, supporting one another through wave after wave of technological development. From Intel’s invention of the microprocessor—the Intel 4004—to today’s far-reaching influence of the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence (AI), the two companies continue in their shared mission to lead the world into the future with cutting-edge technological advancements

Today, fifty years after that first P.O. was issued, both Avnet and Intel are stronger than ever and poised for continued growth. We look forward to working together for another fifty years and beyond.
